| Every
year, thousands of students from around the world spend a
school year studying in another country. During that
time, they live with a few host families, are immersed
in a new culture and language, and meet many new friends. They
also learn a lot about themselves. Participants in
the exchange act as ambassadors, teaching people about their
country, culture, and ideas. They help bring the world
closer – and make some good friends in the process.

Host Families
Needed:
Rotary Youth Exchange
is a student for student program. If New Milford sends a
student, we must host a student. Being a host family is
a very rewarding experience. You will welcome a foreign
student into your home for approximately three to five
months. They will be your temporary "son" or
"daughter". Your family will be enriched by
the extended family hosting creates as well as learning about
another culture and language. Host families provide
room, board, and parental guidance. At least two host families
are required for each student. Without hosts, our
students cannot go be part of the exchange. Please see
"Primer for Host Parents" (Link Below). |

Youth Exchange arrangements are
managed by the District 7890 Youth Exchange Committee and ESSEX
(Eastern States Student Exchange), which coordinates Rotary
youth exchange for Rotary District's from eastern Canada to
North Carolina.
